26 May 2016 –The 21-member National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP) delegation, headed by Col. Stephen V. Agtoto PROF (MNSA), paid a visit to Myanmar from May 17 to 21.
On May 18, the group called on Philippine Ambassador to Myanmar Alex G. Chua who said the NDCP’s visit to Myanmar is meaningful as the Philippines and Myanmar celebrate this year the 60th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations. Ambassador Chua expressed hope that the study tour will facilitate a deeper understanding of the ASEAN region, particularly Myanmar.
The Embassy’s Third Secretary and Vice Consul Alan Roi Q. Gabriola gave a briefing on the Philippines-Myanmar bilateral relations. He underscored the robust people-to-people exchanges as the bedrock of Philippines-Myanmar bilateral relations.
The NDCP delegation also called on various government and military agencies of Myanmar in Nay Pyi Taw and Yangon to exchange views on the political, economic, and socio-cultural developments in Myanmar.
The study tour in Myanmar---which aims to deepen the engagement between the Philippines and Myanmar---is part of the Global Security and Development Study (GSDS) for the Master in National Security Administration (MNSA) of the NDCP. END
