01 June 2016 - The Philippine Embassy in Athens participated in the 4th International Food Festival of the Lady Ambassadors and Ambassadors’ Spouse Athens (LAASA), which was held on May 29 at the Moraitis School in Paleo Psychico in Athens.
The Embassy sold pancit bihon, chicken empanada, chicken siopao, puto, pichi-pichi, biko, maja blanca, sago at gulaman and mango Juice. They also distributed the Department of Tourism’s “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” brochure during the event.
Proceeds of the Food Festival are donated to MERIMNA (www.merimna.org.gr), a charity organization which provides palliative home care services to children with life threatening illnesses and psychological support for children and families who grieve the loss of a loved person.
The food that was not sold was donated to BOROUME (www.boroume.gr), a non-profit charity organization collecting donated food and sharing it to people in need.
Greek dignitaries, members of the Diplomatic Corps, and prominent members of the expatriate community and Greek society were among the guests during said event. Forty-four (44) embassies participated in the food festival.
LAASA is an informal club that offers the opportunity to its members to meet each other at least once a month in order to promote friendship to share cultural and sport activities and to organize charity events in support of local causes. END
