CANBERRA MINISTER

02 June 2016 - On May 04, Philippine Ambassador Minda Calaguian-Cruz paid a courtesy call on Hon. Stuart Ayres, Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events and Minister for Sport of the State of New South Wales, Australia, at the State Parliament. Ambassador Cruz was accompanied by Consul General Anne Jalando-on Louis and Special Trade Representative Kenneth Yap.

During their meeting, Ambassador Cruz noted the long-standing relations between the Philippines and Australia, and the commemoration of the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of Philippines-Australia Diplomatic Relations this year. She said that these relations were further strengthened by the signing of the PHL-Australia Joint Declaration on Comprehensive Partnership in November 2015.

Minister Ayres extended a warm welcome to Ambassador Cruz and discussed areas of possible collaboration between the Philippines and New South Wales, including trade and investments, tourism, education, and promoting even greater engagement with the Filipino community in New South Wales.

Ambassador Cruz looked forward to working with Minister Ayres on further enhancing the relations between the Philippines and New South Wales. END
