02 June 2016 - The Philippine Embassy in Beijing participated in the E-commerce Training Program organized by the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) from April 26 to 29 in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province.

The training program was aimed at promoting ASEAN-China trade relations through e-commerce, which has become the fastest-growing industry in China.

The ACC delegation visited China’s e-commerce giant Alibaba Group and the Zhejiang Dayuan Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd.

Alibaba Group, which provides consumer-to-consumer (C2C), business-to-consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) sales services via online portals, has over 60 million registered users and reaches 200 countries and Chinese regions. It offered to train MSMEs in ASEAN countries on how to best sell their products on Alibaba’s platforms, which include Taobao, Tmall, etc.

Dayuan Chairman Sun Zhen expressed the company’s interest in importing Philippine agricultural products, specifically mangoes, and seafood products.

Hangzhou, the capital of East China’s Zhejiang Province, is one of the twelve cross-border e-commerce pilot cities approved by the General Administration of Customs of China. Hangzhou’s cross-border e-commerce pilot zone is the only national-level e-commerce pilot zone in China.

 

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce predicts that the trade volume of cross-border e-commerce in 2016 will reach RMB 6.5 trillion (US$ 987 billion), accounting for 20% of China’s foreign trade during the year. END
