02 June 2016 - The Philippine Embassy in Bangkok, in cooperation with the Foreign Correspondent Club of Thailand (FCCT) held a successful film screening of multi-awarded director Brillante Mendoza’s “Thy Womb” on May 30. The film is part of the Contemporary World Film Series organized by FCCT.
The film is also an Embassy activity to commemorate the month of May as the National Heritage Month of the Philippines, in recognition of the need to protect, promote and celebrate our multi-cultural traditions and heritage, including those of our Muslim brothers and sisters in the Southern Philippines.
Starring Nora Aunor and Bembol Rocco, “Thy Womb” is a Filipino drama about a barren midwife who decides to find a second wife to bear her husband’s only child and heir. They belong to the gypsy Badjao community in Tawi-Tawi, an island province in located in the Autonomous region of Muslim Mindanao. END
