June 2016 - The ASEAN Committee in Prague which consists of the Embassies of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam, visited Kroměříž, a Moravian town in the Zlin Region of the Czech Republic upon invitation of Kroměříž Mayor Jaroslav Nemec on May 26.

Kroměříž City Mayor Jaroslav Nemec, along with Vice Mayor Mark Sindler, welcomed the 11-member ACP delegation at the City Hall. The delegation, accompanied by their spouses,  included Philippine Ambassador to the Czech Republic Victoriano M. Lecaros, Thailand Ambassador Narong Sasitorn, Vietnamese Ambassador Truong Manh Son, and Indonesian Embassy Charge d’affaires a.i. Yulianto Wahono. The ACP Working Group included the Philippine Embassy’s First Secretary Juan E. Dayang, Jr., Thai Counselor Sangchai, and Vietnamese Counselor Pham Thi Thu Huong.

                                                     
The ACP delegation exchanged information with Mayor Nemec on Kroměříž’s education, health, social welfare, and tourism services. The Mayor and the Vice Mayor personally gave a tour of the 18th century Town Hall, and together toured the Baroque Kroměříž Bishop's Palace, where some scenes from movies such as Amadeus and Immortal Beloved were filmed. The Mayor hosted a lunch for the delegates and had a brief stop at the trade fair on the main square. In the afternoon, Kromeříž Hall officials escorted the foreign delegation to the Flower Garden for a guided tour of the entire garden including the famous Rotunda Foucault pendulum.

The ACP Delegation gave the Mayor and his team tokens of appreciation for their warm hospitality and expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to visit the Bishop’s Palace and Baroque Garden in Kroměříž, which were named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998. END
