06 June 2016 – The Loboc Children’s Choir (LCC) performed a concert in Dhaka, Bangladesh on May 27. The concert was organized by the Philippine Embassy in Dhaka to promote cultural diplomacy between the Governments of the Philippines and Bangladesh as part of the advance celebration of the 118th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence held from May 26 to 30.
The 30-person LCC delegation was headed by Mr. Lutgardo L. Labad and Ms. Alma Taldo, Coordinator and Choir Mistress, respectively, of the LCC. This was the first visit of the LCC to Bangladesh to South Asia. The LCC is the first choir from the ASEAN region to do so.
On May 26, the LCC paid a courtesy call to Philippine Ambassador to Bangladesh Vicente Vivencio T. Bandillo at the Philippine chancery, where they were welcomed by the Embassy staff and representatives of the Filipino community. During the call, the LCC rendered a Filipino song as a preview of their scheduled concert in Dhaka the following day, to the delight and amazement of the audience at the chancery. Following the call, Ambassador Bandillo hosted a lunch for the LCC.
The LCC’s visit was a joint project of the Philippine Embassy in Dhaka and two Filipino communities in Bangladesh, namely, the Philippine Society in Bangladesh (PSB) and Filipino Grand Alliance in Bangladesh (FGAB). END
