07 June 2016 - The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai and Northern Emirates led the opening of the Philippine Independence Day (PID) 2016 Celebration on June 03 at the World Trade Center in Dubai. The PID 2016 celebration was organized by Filipino community (FilCom) volunteers and under the auspices of the Philippine Consulate.    

Consul General Paul Raymund P. Cortes led the ribbon-cutting ceremony together with the officials of POLO-OWWA and members of the FilCom Committee.

The festivities included a parade of colors, bazaars, production numbers by students and various artists, contests in Interpretative Dance, On-the-Spot Painting, Extemporaneous Speaking, the Mr. and Miss Teen PID 2016 Pageant, an OPM Singing Contest and a Job Fair which showcased different employment opportunities in healthcare, education, technology, business and customer service industries offered by participating companies. As many as 15,000 Filipinos attended the one-day celebration. END
