03 October 2013 - The President of the Poland-Philippines Parliamentary Group and Member of the Sejm (counterpart of the Philippines’ House of Representatives) Hon. Adam Szejnfeld met with Philippine Ambassador to Poland Patricia Ann V. Paez last September 24 and discussed avenues for greater engagement between the Philippines and Poland.
MP Hon. Szejnfeld said that the vast majority of Poles and Filipinos are Catholics and congratulated the Philippines for its good economic performance. He also stressed that “the Polish impression that the Philippines is remote should be changed.”
He invited Ambassador Paez to the Sejm to discuss vital issues on politics with the members of the Polish Parliament and offered the Sejm as a venue for an exhibit about the Philippines.
They also tackled concrete steps to promote scientific and technical as well as educational and cultural exchanges. Increasing trade relations and reciprocal tourism promotion campaigns were also discussed.
Ambassador Paez reiterated her invitation to MP Hon. Szejnfeld to visit other parts of the Philippines since the latter was able to see only Manila during his trip to the country last year.
MP Hon. Szejnfeld was accompanied by Mr. Michal Garganisz of the Bilateral Cooperation Division of the Chancellery of the Sejm. END
