ABU LAD 1

15 June 2016 – The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi, in partnership with the Philippine Ladies Circle Abu Dhabi, held a forum entitled “Inspiring Filipinas Towards Nationalism, Wellness and Family Cohesion.” Four guest speakers were invited to give talks on the forum topic based on their background and expertise.

Ruby Orellanes Awad, English coordinator and teacher at The Philippine Global School in Abu Dhabi discussed how she promotes patriotism and nationalism to students using the English language as her medium.

A mother and a recruitment professional, Maria Jo Anne Uy Lami-in inspired the audience by sharing her experiences on how she managed to foster strong family cohesion considering that she is a mother of four children within the autism spectrum.

Karen Remo, Editor-in-Chief of The Filipino Times and Managing Director of the New Perspective Media, gave a motivational lecture on how to dream and become successful, especially for OFWs.

Social Welfare Attaché Isabel Sy-Nillas spoke about women’s wellness focused on reproductive health and responsible parenthood.

Faculty members of The Philippine Global School (TPGS) and The Philippine School (TPS) Abu Dhabi attended the forum, together with officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy, Philippine Overseas Labor Office, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Office of the Social Welfare Attaché, Social Security System and Pag-IBIG in Abu Dhabi.

The event was organized in celebration of the National Flag Day of the Philippines (May 28 to June 12), International Day of Families (May 15), and International Day of Action for Women’s Health (May 28). END
