16 June 2016 - The Philippine Consulate General led the celebration of the 118th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence with the flag raising ceremony on June 12, attended by the officials and staff of the Philippine Consulate and POLO-OWWA, officers of Department of Agriculture, Department of Trade and Industry, leaders of Filipino community organizations, other prominent personalities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and their respective family members.
The messages of the President and Secretary of Foreign Affairs were delivered by Consul General Paul Raymund P. Cortes and Deputy Consul General Giovanni Palec, respectively. The message of Secretary of Labor was delivered by Labor Attaché Ofelia Domingo.
In recognition of the Filipino community who assisted during the Overseas Voting, Consul General Cortes awarded Certificates of Recognition to the leaders of the Filipino Community Organizations. The Philippine Consulate appreciated the full support of these community leaders who have been present and cooperative during the 31-day Overseas Voting.
The two kiosks of Gulf Law were launched and introduced by Atty. Barney Almazar, Director at the Commercial Department of Gulf Law in the Middle East, Philippines and United Kingdom.
These kiosks provide computer generated information regarding the basic laws OFW needs to know. These will be positioned at the processing areas of Passport Section and Visa Section.
Likewise, part of the program was the Awarding of Best-Dressed in Filipiniana and Barong which was participated by the staff and spouses of the Philippine Consulate and POLO OWWA.
The celebration was graced by a festive breakfast which was shared by all the guests. END
