17 June 2016 - The Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam, led by Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Meynardo LB. Montealegre, attended a Thanksgiving Mass on June 05, at the Church of Our Lady of Assumption, as part of the commemoration of the 118th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence.
The Mass, in Filipino language, was celebrated by the Vicar Apostolic of the Catholic Apostolic Vicariate of Brunei, Bishop Cornelius Sim. It was attended by more than five hundred (500) members of the Filipino community in Brunei. Bishop Sim, in his homily, congratulated the Philippines for the recently concluded National Elections and expressed hope for the country’s continued progress.
After the Mass, Ambassador Montealegre, together with Bishop Sim, with the rest of the Embassy personnel, and the members of the Filipino Community enjoyed a simple breakfast at a function hall of the church. END
