CHIC KICK

21 June 2016 - The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago kicked off its 2016 consular outreach season by conducting outreach services in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 18 at the St. Michael the Archangel Parish School Gym. The outreach was done in coordination with the Barangay Club of Indiana, Inc., a Filipino-American community organization.

There are approximately 10,652 Filipinos residing in the state of Indiana, according to the 2010 U.S. Census. The outreach is part of the Consulate’s initiative of bringing public service closer to its constituents.

The outreach also featured guest speakers Ms. Joanne C. Mages from the National Labor Relations Board and Ms. Elana Brandon from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission during the opening program. Ms Mages, and Ms. Brandon gave brief presentations about the services provided by their respective agencies, and welcomed queries from the Filipino American audience regarding labor rights and discrimination issues on employment.

The Consular team was led by Consul Alena S. Borra and consisted of Ms. Elizabeth Villa, Ms. Anita Saldo, Ms. Maria Victoria Rivera, and Mr. Jerwin Mamalateo.

A total of 88 consular services were rendered during the outreach, which included passport applications, dual citizenship, visa, notarials, and civil registration. END
