21 June 2016 – The Philippine Embassy in Dhaka celebrated the 118th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence at the Le Meridian hotel on May 28. The Loboc Children’s Choir commenced the celebration by singing the Bangladesh and Philippine National Anthems, and rendered two more songs for the guests.
The traditional ASEAN cake cutting was headed by Philippine Ambassador to Bangladesh Vicente Vivencio T. Bandillo together with the Foreign Affairs State Minister Md. Shariar Alam as the Chief Guest and the ASEAN Heads of Missions in Bangladesh.
The event also demonstrated the Santacruzan, a traditional Filipino practice called sagala which featured young members of the Filipino community wearing Filipiniana costumes.
The event was attended by the Diplomatic Corps, Bangladesh Governments officials, Universities and Business officials, Presidents of Philippine Society in Bangladesh (PSB) and Filipino Grand Alliance in Bangladesh (FGAB) with the Officers and members of Filipino community. END
