23 June 2016- The Philippine Embassy together with the ASEAN Committee in Prague including the Embassies of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Viet Nam, joined the first “Festival of the Embassies: Food and Culture” on June 04. The five-member ASEAN Committee in Prague initiated ASEAN Farmer’s Market which was expanded as the Festival of Embassies, which was joined by thirty-three diplomatic missions in Prague.

The event, organized by the Municipality of Prague District 6 under the leadership of 32-year old Mayor Ondřej Kolář, provided Diplomatic Missions, most of them are located at District 6, the opportunity to showcase their cuisine and traditional and artisanal products. Some participating Embassies, including Indonesia and Thailand, also staged cultural performances.

P-NOY Taste of Asia, a shop that sells Philippine products in Prague and other Filipino entrepreneurs sold traditional Filipino dishes such as fried beef spring rolls, pancit, chicken adobo, rice and cassava cakes and dried goods. The Embassy introduced fresh Philippines mangoes which were immediately sold-out as it was the first time most Czech consumers saw fresh Philippine mangoes in the market.

The event which was held at the Farmer’s Market in Vitezne square, Dejvice, Prague was visited by more than 8,000 guests throughout the day. END
