28 June 2016 - The winners of the Pilipino Po Ako Children’s Painting Contest received their plaques, cash prizes, and gifts at the Parroquia Nuestra Señora del Espino on June 12.
The painting contest was a joint project by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the Philippine Embassy in Madrid. Open to Filipino children in Spain and Andorra, the contest had two categories (5 to 10 year olds and 11 to 16 year olds). For the first category, participants had to choose from two themes: Paggalang sa Nakatatanda at sa Kapwa and Kagandahang Loob. For the second category, the themes were Bayanihan and Pakikisama. The duration of the contest was from September 06, 2015 to May 02, 2016.
The judging of the winners was held on May 10 by Mrs. Isabelita T. Salinas and Fr. Remigio Domino as official judges. The winners were announced on May 18.
The winners under the 5 to 10 years of age category were:
1st Place - Marc Dave Vicente (Barcelona)
2nd Place - Nicole Paz Pinto (Tenerife)
3rd Place - Katrina Nicole Tagorda Oamil (Barcelona)
For the category under 11 to 16 years of age, the winners were:
1st Place - Cecile Anne Eda Ardiente (Madrid)
2nd Place - Alvin Joe Domingo Collado (Barcelona)
3rd Place - Ashley Makayla Pacis Caringal (Barcelona)
Participants who submitted entries were also given certificates of appreciation and Philippine art kits, courtesy of NCCA. END
