29 June 2016 – As part of its activities to celebrate the 118th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence, the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok, in cooperation with the Filipino Heritage Festival and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), hosted a Filipiniana fashion show, lecture and exhibit featuring Philippine weave and textiles and filigree jewelry creations by Ms. Cora Manimbo and Mr. Oscar Atendido.     

On June 12, “The Filipiniana Lecture & Exhibit: A Heritage Event” was held at the Embassy Conference Room, during which Ms. Cora Manimbo Cultural gave a lecture on Philippine weave and textiles, while Mr. Oscar Atendido talked about Philippine filigree jewelry. Their daughter, Ms. Sophia Therese Manimbo, was also present at the event and was introduced by the Embassy Cultural Attaché Sylvia Reyes. Guests of the Embassy admired the exhibit of Filipiniana creations and Philippine filigree jewelry. The Filipiniana Lecture & Exhibit was also part of the Barrio Fiesta celebration of the members of the Filipino Community in Thailand.

Meanwhile, on June 15, “The Filipiniana Fashion Show and Exhibit, A Heritage Event” was held during the Embassy-hosted reception celebrating the 118th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence at the Grand Ballroom of Shangri-la Hotel. An exhibit of Filipiniana creations by Ms. Manimbo and Philippine filigree jewelry by Mr. Atendido were displayed in one section of the grand ballroom while volunteer models from the Philippine Embassy and Filipino community showcased the creations of Ms. Manimbo and Mr. Atendido in a fashion show.
