30 June 2016 - The Philippine Embassy in Vientiane, in cooperation with the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism (MICT), organized the “Water Symphony” cultural performance of the AlunALun Dance Circle (ADC) on June 27 at the Lao National Cultural Hall, Vientiane.
The cultural event, the third leg of the ADC performance tour which includes performances in India, Myanmar, and Cambodia, saw a high number of attendees from the diplomatic and international communities in Vientiane, as well as from educational institutions such as the National University of Laos (NUOL) and the Art Education College of Laos. A reception which showcased Philippine food such as lumpia (spring rolls), bukayo (coconut macaroons), puto at kutsinta (rice cakes) was hosted by the Philippine Embassy prior to the performance.
In her welcome remarks, Philippine Ambassador Belinda Ante expressed her appreciation to the MICT for its assistance in arranging the performance. Ambassador Ante also mentioned that culture is an integral part of Philippine diplomacy and that the Philippine Government hopes to deepen cultural relations with its neighbors who share the same Asian influence.
After the ADC performance, His Excellency Vanhsy Kuamua, Permanent Secretary of the MICT, presented a bouquet of flowers to Madame Ligaya Fernando-Amilbangsa, the Artistic Director and Choreographer of the AlunAlun Dance Circle. END.
