BEI TRIP 1

07 July 2016 – Representatives of the Philippine Embassy joined the trip to Lhasa, Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) on June 21 to 24 organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Southeast Asian diplomats.

The Ambassadors of Brunei, Indonesia, Myanmar, Singapore, and Vietnam, and representatives of Laos and Timor Leste also joined the trip.

Representatives of the Development and Reform Commission and the Ethnic and Religious Affairs Commission of TAR conducted briefings on the socio-economic development as well as on ethnic and religious affairs in Tibet.

The Southeast Asian envoys and diplomats also called on Party Secretary Qi Zhala of the Lhasa Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Tibet Foreign and Overseas Affairs Office.

Visits to famous cultural sites, including UNESCO World Heritage Sites Norbulingka, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor, Potala Palace and Sera Monastery were made. Tibet is an autonomous region located in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau at the southwestern border of China. END
