11 July 2016 – Philippine Ambassador to Lebanon Leah M. Basinang-Ruiz paid a farewell call last June 27 on the Head of International Relations of Hezbollah Mr. Amar Moussawi, accompanied by Vice Consul Grace Perpetua, Head of the Embassy’s Political, Economic, Cultural and Information Section to update him on Embassy initiatives and projects to intensify Philippines-Lebanon relations, particularly in the area of economic, cultural, media and people-to-people linkages.
Ambassador Ruiz highlighted the year 2016 as a banner year for bilateral relations because, on October 24, both countries will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
Mr. Moussawi welcomed the initiatives of the Philippine Embassy and reiterated Hezbollah’s full support in this regard.
Ambassador Ruiz presented Mr. Moussawi with a T’boli hand crafted keepsake box and Philippine tourism brochures while he in turn presented her with Hezbollah’s glass mounted insignia. END
