PADOVA

19 July 2016 — The Philippine Consulate General in Milan conducted a two-day consular mission in the cities of Treviso and Padova in the northern Italian region of Veneto on July 16 and 17, respectively. During the outreach, more than 300 overseas Filipinos availed themselves of various services, including passport renewal. Consul Conrado Demdem, Jr. led and supervised the activities.

Representatives from the attached agencies (i.e., OWWA, SSS, Pag-IBIG) also took part in the consular outreach and extended assistance to Filipinos.

Consul Demdem took advantage of the occasion to dialogue and thanked leaders of the various Filipino organizations for supporting the Consulate in providing assistance to Filipinos in the region. He recognized their positive role in keeping Filipino values and tradition alive, especially among Filipino youth. He also applauded them for contributing to rehabilitation efforts in the Philippines in times of natural calamities.

There are more than 300 Filipinos in Treviso and 3,000 in Padova. Most of them are working in households and factories. END
