SG community meeting

21 July 2016 - The Philippine Embassy organized the year’s fourth Filipino community (Filcom) meeting in Singapore on Saturday, July 16, at the public area of the Philippine Chancery along Nassim Road, where some 100 participants gathered.

Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Antonio A. Morales conveyed his appreciation to the Filcom leaders for sparing time for the regular gathering, which serves as a forum to discuss issues that matter to the Filcom. The heads of the various sections of the Philippine Embassy and the attached agencies updated the participants on relevant developments in their respective jurisdictions. Commercial Counsellor Glenn Peñaranda of the Philippine Trade and Investment Centre-Singapore provided his insights on economic opportunities in the Philippines. The Labor Attaché, Welfare Officer and the representatives of the Social Security System and PagIBIG Fund briefed the participants on the services that their agencies provide for the Filcom. Filcom organizations and other entities also shared updates on their activities.

The next Filcom meeting will be held in September 2016. The meeting was preceded by the “Kapihan sa Embassy” and concluded with a networking lunch, arranged by POLO/OWWA Singapore. END
