BOWLING

22 July 2016 – The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco’s bowling team has once again bagged the championship trophy in the 8th Annual Young Diplomats Club Bowling Tournament.

This has been the fifth year in a row that the Consulate General team has won, with a total score of 815 points, the highest score so far in the history of the YDC Bowling Tournament. One of the special prizes, such as the male player with the highest score, was also awarded to a member of the team. This year’s victorious ten-member team was led by Consul Carlyn Monastrial.

The other winners in the competition were the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in 2nd place, and the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in 3rd place.

The much-awaited competition was held on July 14 at the Presidio Bowling Center in San Francisco. Personnel from the various Consulates General and their spouses competed against each other in the friendly tournament, while other colleagues from different posts came together to form a UN Team.

Sports diplomacy has been one of the Consulate’s successful tools in promoting Philippine culture and interests. It has also been effective in promoting camaraderie between and among colleagues and the host community. END
