22 July 2016 - Philippine Ambassador to Mexico Eduardo José A. de Vega was invited to participate in a lecture entitled “La Conquista de las Filipinas y la familia Salcedo-Lopez de Legazpi” which is part of the on-going lecture series on “The Cultural Route of the Manila Galleon (Manila-Mexico) on July 20 at the Museo Regional Cuauhnȧhuac (Palacio de Cortés) in the City of Cuernavaca, State of Morelos.

Speaking completely in Spanish, Ambassador de Vega noted before the audience of diplomats and scholars that while much has been studied about the historical linkage between Mexico and the Philippines, there is still a treasure of information yet to be discovered and analyzed, including the commercial motivations which led to the colonization by Spain of both Mexico and the Philippines.
