On the Declaration of Alert Level 1 for Filipinos in Guam and Northern Mariana Islands
15 August 2017 - The Department of Foreign Affairs has issued Alert Level 1 (Precautionary Phase) for Filipinos residing in Guam and the Northern Marianas islands. This means that the situation is still developing and that Filipino nationals are encouraged to closely monitor the news from reliable media outlets and official advisories from the Government of Guam, and other US authorities, as well as the Philippine Consulate General in Guam.
Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano assured the public that contingency plans are in place in Guam to assist Filipinos should it be necessary, and that the DFA and the Consulate General continue to monitor the situation closely.
