Statement: On the Arrival of the Latest Batch of Filipino Repatriates from the UAE

Repat 3

29 August 2018 — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) welcomed today 125 overseas Filipino workers from Abu Dhabi and Al-Ain—118 women and seven men, with one minor—who availed themselves of the amnesty program of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). They comprise the third batch of Filipino amnesty grantees from the UAE.

This brings to 341 the total number of OFWs who were repatriated by the DFA since the amnesty program began this month.

During the arrival program at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Senior Special Assistant Olivia V. Palala of the DFA Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs (OUMWA) led the distribution of P5,000.00 financial assistance to each repatriate as part of the government’s “all-out support” for the returning OFWs. According to Senior Special Assistant Palala the DFA will also shoulder the connecting flights of 26 OFWs to different parts of the country.

The DFA continues to encourage qualified Filipinos to take advantage of the UAE’s amnesty program before the 31 October 2018 deadline, to give the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai ample time to process the necessary documents for their repatriation. END
