Statement: On New York Limousine Crash

08 October 2018 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) extended its sympathies to the families of 20 people killed in what has been described as the deadliest transportation accident in the United States in almost a decade.

The Philippine Consulate General in New York reported to Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano that all 18 passengers in a stretch limousine died along with two pedestrians after the vehicle travelling southwest on State Route 30 failed to stop at an intersection and struck an unoccupied sports utility vehicle.

Consul General Claro Cristobal said the Consulate General has checked with hospitals in Albany but there are no reports that the fatalities included any of the estimated 125,000 Filipinos in New York State. END
