13 October 2018 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is reminding undocumented Filipinos in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) they only have until the end of the month to regularize their stay or be repatriated.
The DFA made the call a day before the arrival in Manila of another batch of 150 Filipinos from Dubai who availed themselves of the UAE amnesty program. The 14th batch of repatriates is expected to arrive at Terminal 2 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 8:45 a.m.
On Friday, the 13th batch of 78 repatriates arrived from Abu Dhabi and brought to 1,377 the total number of Filipinos flown home by the DFA since the start of the amnesty program in August.
Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano said the DFA, through the Office of Migrant Workers Affairs, shouldered the exit fines and other penalties, airline tickets to Manila and to their respective provinces. The DFA also provided financial assistance of P5,000.00 to each of the repatriates.END
