Update No. 5 on Case of Murdered Filipina in Sweden

26 November 2018 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) welcomes the reassurance given by authorities in Sweden that justice will be served in connection with the death of Mailyn Conde Sinambong on 23 September 2018. The assurance was given by prosecutors to Mailyn’s brother Angel Monato and cousin Maritchu Osabel during a meeting in Stockholm.

The two relatives were flown in from Cebu by the DFA Office of Migrant Workers Affairs (OMWA). They were accompanied by Consul General Maria Elena Algabre from the Philippine Embassy in Oslo and OMWA Case Officer Suzette Aluag-Callo.

The Embassy arranged for the two relatives to view the remains of Mailyn and meet with all relevant Swedish authorities. END
