Statement: On the Second Extension of UAE Amnesty Program

04 December 2018 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) welcomes the second extension by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) of its amnesty program as this would allow more undocumented Filipinos to return home.

The DFA encourages undocumented Filipinos to take the amnesty offer before the new deadline expires on 31 December.

The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General in Dubai have informed the Home Office that UAE authorities are expected to launch an extensive inspection campaign against violators of its residency laws at the start of the year.

The DFA has flown home more than 2,700 Filipinos in the UAE who have availed themselves of the amnesty program since it was launched in August. END
