Bulletin: On the Situation in Khartoum

14 December 2018 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is advising Filipinos in Khartoum and surrounding areas in Sudan to exercise caution and avoid crowded public areas in that African country.

The advisory was issued after the Philippine Embassy in Cairo informed the Home Office of possible social unrest in Khartoum arising from shortages in food, gasoline and transportation.

Ambassador to Egypt Sulpicio Confiado said the Embassy is monitoring the situation and is ready to extend assistance to the estimated 3,000 Filipinos in Sudan who may find themselves in emergency situations. END
