On the Apartment Explosion in Southern Russia
02 January 2018 - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has been informed that there are no Filipinos among the casualties of an explosion at at apartment building in Chelyabinsk Oblast in Russia on 31 December 2018.
The Philippine Embassy in Moscow said the 10 Filipinos in the area are all safe and accounted for. Ambassador to Russia Carlos Sorreta extended the Embassy’s condolences to the families and loved ones of the 14 fatalities of the explosion in Magnitogorsk, located 1,700 kilometers from Moscow.
He also conveyed wishes for the quick recovery of the more than 30 people reported missing in the explosion that authorities said was caused by a gas leak. END
