19 January 2019 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) expresses its condolences to Colombia in the wake of the terrorist car bombing of a police academy in Bogota on Thursday that left 21 people dead and at least 68 others injured.

The Philippine Embassy in Brasilia, which has jurisdiction over Colombia, said initial reports indicated that none of the 140 members of the Filipino Community are among the dead or injured.

In her report to the Home Office, Ambassador Marichu B. Mauro, said a truck packed with 80 kilograms of the explosive pentolite exploded after ramming a wall inside the General Santander police academy while a cadet promotion activity was taking place. Colombian President Ivan Duque described the incident as a terrorist act and declared three days of national mourning.
