Bulletin: On PH-UN Strategic Partnership

21 February 2019 – Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin Jr. affirmed the strategic partnership between the Philippines and the United Nations during the call of Mr. Ola Almgren, the newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator, on Thursday.

In their meeting, Secretary Locsin hailed the adoption of the Philippines-UN Partnership Framework for Sustainable Development 2019-2023, a progressive framework for cooperation that redefines the UN’s engagement with the Philippines from a “donor-donee relationship” to a strategic partnership. The two officials discussed UN assistance in peace-building in Mindanao and institutional reforms in the UN system.

Mr. Almgren is the highest-ranking official of the UN Development System in the Philippines. END
