“Partners for Progress, Brothers for Peace”: Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad to Visit the Philippines

28 February 2019 – On the invitation of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, The Honourable Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad, Prime Minister of Malaysia, will undertake an Official Visit to the Philippines on 06-07 March 2019.

President Duterte will officially welcome Prime Minister Mahathir at ceremonies in Malacañang Palace on 07 March 2019, after which the two leaders will hold a bilateral meeting to survey and discuss cooperation in the political, economic, and people-to-people spheres, and exchange views on the topics of mutual importance.

During his visit, Prime Minister Mahathir is also scheduled to meet Senate President Vicente Sotto III and House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

This is Prime Minister Mahathir’s first visit to the Philippines since he assumed his position as the 7th Prime Minister of Malaysia in 2018. During his previous term as Prime Minister, he undertook bilateral official visits in 1987 and 1994. The Official Visit reciprocates President Duterte’s visit to Malaysia in July 2018. END
