Bulletin: On the Shooting Incident in Utrecht

18 March 2019 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is monitoring a shooting incident in Utrecht in the Netherlands that has left several persons wounded.

The Philippines is greatly saddened that such an incident has occured in a peaceful country such as the Netherlands. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Dutch people and government during this difficult time.

The Philippine Embassy in The Hague is currently coordinating with Dutch police and the Dutch Foreign Ministry on developments regarding the shooting incident.

Ambassador Jaime Victor Ledda said efforts are bring undertaken to verify whether there are Filipinos who are among the injured. The Embassy is also contacting Filipino community members in Utrecht and is advising them to take necessary precautions. So far, no fatalities have been reported. END

UPDATE as of 2222H, 18 March 2019: Based on the latest report from the Philippine Embassy, there are three dead and nine injured in the shooting incident in Utrecht. The Embassy is still trying to ascertain if there are Filipinos among the dead and injured.
