Statement: On the Ascension of Emperor Naruhito to the Chrysanthemum Throne

01 May 2019 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) extends the Philippines’ warmest felicitations to His Majesty Emperor Naruhito on the occasion of his ascension to the Chrysanthemum Throne, and joins the Japanese people in welcoming the Reiwa era.

On this historic occasion, one that marks both continuity and transition, the DFA conveys the Philippines’ wishes for Japan’s success, and the sustained momentum of the strengthened strategic partnership between Philippines and Japan. END
