On the Kidnapping of 2 More Filipino Seafarers in West Africa

11 November 2019 — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), through its Embassy in Abuja, received a report of another piracy incident in West Africa that resulted in the kidnapping of two more Filipino seafarers somewhere in Togo. This brings to 11 the total number of kidnapped Filipino seafarers in West Africa, following the reported nine others who were captured in Benin last week.

The Philippine Government is actively tracking the development of the case with the Embassy in Abuja continuing its coordination with relevant authorities to ensure the safety and security of the Filipino seafarers. Moreover, the DFA maintains close contact with the seafarers' manning agency and will provide updates, as necessary. END
