Statement: On the Sakurajima Volcano Eruption in Kagoshima Prefecture

PASAY CITY 25 July 2022 — As of today, no Filipino has been affected, injured, or displaced by the eruption of Sakurajima volcano in the southernwestern part of Japan in Kagoshima Prefecture. The highest alert level in Japan, which is alert level 5, remains in place and orders to evacuate the nearby towns of Arimura and Furusato have been issued by the local government. The Philippine Consulate General in Osaka continues to monitor the situation and is in close contact with Filipino Community Organizations in Kagoshima. The DFA will provide updates as they arise. END
