Hungarian Foreign Minister Embarks on Third Official Visit to Manila, 13 June
MANILA, 11 June 2024 – Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjárto will undertake an official visit to the Philippines on 13 June 2024.
The visit is part of Foreign Minister Szijjártó’s official tour of Southeast Asia, and marks his third trip to the Philippines in his current role. He previously visited in 2017, meeting then-acting Foreign Affairs Secretary Manalo, and in 2020, engaging with then-Secretary Teodoro Locsin, Jr.
Foreign Minister Szijjártó will meet with Secretary Enrique A. Manalo. The bilateral meeting between the two Ministers also serves as the 8th iteration of the Philippines-Hungary Political Consultations. The 7th round of Political Consultations was held in Budapest in 2022.
Minister Szijjártó will also meet with Secretary Alfredo E. Pascual of the Department of Trade and Industry and Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac of the Department of Migrant Workers.
The visit highlights the ongoing celebrations of the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Hungary.
Hungary is a key partner of the Philippines in the areas of education, water technology, agriculture, culture, and sports. The two countries’ relations are marked by a shared commitment to democracy, rule of law, and compliance with international law. END
