DFA Advisory on Conflict Escalation in the Red Sea

MANILA 23 August 2024 — The Department of Foreign Affairs advises the public that the danger to all shipping in the Red Sea remains. This situation has worsened due in part to the conflict escalation in the Red Sea that poses a clear and present danger to all Filipino seafarers working in the area.

The DFA therefore urges Filipino seafarers to exercise prudent choice and their 'right-to-refuse sailing' in the Red Sea. Philippine nationals should avoid the area altogether unless absolutely necessary for their livelihood. END

Nais ipahayag ng Kagawaran ng Ugnayang Panlabas na ang panganib sa mga barko na lumalayag sa Red Sea ay nananatili, at lalo pang lumala dahil sa away sa Red Sea, na nagdudulot ng panganib sa lahat ng Pilipinong tripulante na nagtatrabaho sa lugar na ito.

Dahil dito, hinihikayat ang lahat ng tripulanteng Pilipino, lalung-lalo na ang ating mga tripulante ng barko, na gamitin ang kanilang karapatang huwag lumayag sa Red Sea. Kung hindi naman sa matinding pangangailangan, iwasan po ng lahat na Pilipino ang rehiyong ito. WAKAS
