DFA Statement on the Congratulatory Call of President Marcos to U.S. President-Elect Donald J. Trump
20 November 2024 - The Department welcomes the call between President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and U.S. President-elect Donald J. Trump on 19 November as reported by the Presidential Communications Office.
The congratulatory call, described by the President as very friendly and productive, underscored the positive momentum and trajectory in our bilateral relations with the United States. It also highlighted the positive role of Filipino Americans in U.S. society, including in the recent successful and peaceful conduct of U.S. elections.
The United States remains an important ally, partner, and friend to the Philippines. We look forward to working with the Trump Administration in ensuring that PH-U.S. relations remains robust and benefits from continuing positive momentum in security and defense cooperation, economic partnership, as well as broader and deeper engagement across other areas of mutual interest.
