Statement of the Secretary for Foreign Affairs Enrique A. Manalo on the Successful Turnover of Ms. Mary Jane F. Veloso to Philippine Authorities and her Arrival in the Philippines

MANILA 18 December 2024 - Allow me to thank the Government of Indonesia for its sincere and decisive action which allowed Mary Jane Veloso to be home before Christmas. We thank the DOJ which worked closely with the DFA and with our then Philippine Ambassador to Indonesia, Miss Gina Jamoralin, and her team, during the planning stage of Mary Jane’s repatriation. We thank President Marcos for his approval of our recommendations & steadfast guidance for the welfare of Ms. Veloso.

This is a significant achievement for the bilateral relations between the Philippines and Indonesia, a mark of the trust and friendship between our two nations. We would, therefore, like to take this moment to reiterate our sincerest thanks to the Indonesian Government for this humanitarian action. Their generosity has made possible this momentous day of Ms. Veloso’s return to the Philippines.

Maraming salamat din po sa lahat ng ating mga kababayan at kawani sa gobyerno na patuloy ang pagsuporta at pag-alala sa kalagayan ni Mary Jane sa panahon na siya ay nasa Indonesia at hanggang ngayon. END
