01 December 2016 — The Philippine Consulate General in Milan held its first organizational meeting for its Northern Italy Action Group Against Drugs (AGAD) initiative on November 24.
Led by Consul General Marichu Mauro, the Philippine Consulate General in Milan aims to launch AGAD as its contribution to the President’s campaign in combating drug problems among Filipinos.
The AGAD initiative against illegal drugs is being done in close collaboration with the leaders and members of Filipino community organizations in Milan and Northern Italy.
The formation of AGAD was met with enthusiasm by the Filipino community who offered various recommendations such as engaging the youth to develop positive hobbies and activities to prevent drug use, and by developing a strong network of Filipino organizations such as church-based groups, so that a more concentrated effort could be made in the fight against drugs.
