23 March 2016 - In celebration of National Women’s Month and International Women’s day on March 28, the Philippine Embassy in Lisbon conducted a Seminar on Reproductive Health at the Chancery in Lisbon, Portugal.

The Seminar was organized, conducted, and led by Post in coordination with the Filipino Community. Dr. Maria Teresa Silva, a Portuguese doctor who specializes on General and Family Medicine served as the resource speaker for the Seminar. Among topics discussed were issues on family planning including artificial and natural methods, early detection and cure for breast cancer and other cancers in the reproductive system.

Dr. Silva also shared her expertise on maternal health during the lecture. It was also noted that documented Filipinas living and/or working in Portugal can also avail of health care privilege (i.e. discounted standard care and medicine) from the Portuguese public health institutions.

There were group discussions to enable the participants to ask concerns, share experiences and gain deeper knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of reproductive and overall health. END
