16 April 2014 – The Department of Foreign Affairs Ladies Foundation (DFALF) Abuja Chapter held the Philippine Charity Bazaar and Food Fair on February 16 at the Philippine Embassy in Abuja.

Twelve (12) stands sold Filipino delicacies, drinks, souvenirs, and other products. The stands gave Filipino entrepreneurs and their Nigerian friends a chance to showcase their products. Bingo games with fabulous prizes as well as an auction of unique Philippine and Nigerian products highlighted the event.

More than 200 guests composed of members of the Filipino community in Abuja, members of the diplomatic corps, Nigerian business representatives and other friends of the Philippines, participated in the event, including the Ambassador of Portugal and his spouse, the Mexican Deputy Chief of Mission, and the four Filipino nuns working with the Apostolic Nunciature in Abuja, and among many others.

The Philippine Charity Bazaar 2014 was organized by the DFALF- Abuja Chapter to raise funds for its charity projects. The main benefeciaries of the charity bazaar are the Bema Homes (an orphanage), FCT School for the Blind in Jabi, both located in the outskirts of Abuja, as well as the scholarship fund of DFALF.

At the sidelines of the event, Philippine Ambassador to Nigeria Alex V. Lamadrid was interviewed by Ms. Juliet Dangiwa of ITV Channel Network in Abuja and crew members of The Diplomats magazine, headed by its Editor-in-Chief Mr. Raphael Oni. END
