DFA Ladies Foundation, Inc. (DFALF) celebrates its 24th Anniversary, holds first online General Assembly and Fellowship

PASAY CITY 15 December 2020 – In celebration of its 24th Founding Anniversary, the DFA Ladies Foundation, Inc. (DFALF) conducted its first online General Assembly and Fellowship on Saturday, 12 December 2020.
In her opening remarks, DFALF Chairperson, Mme. Maria Lourdes B. Locsin, expressed her appreciation to the members and encouraged continued support for the Foundation. DFALF President Irene Susan B. Natividad reported on the accomplishments for CY 2020, while DFALF Treasurer Cecilia S. Tomas provided an update on the status of funds.
First Vice President and Scholarship Committee Chair, Director Emma Sarne, hosted the program which included segments in line with the Foundation’s advocacies, including testimonials from DFALF scholars, videos on the history of women’s rights, the observance of the 18-day campaign to end violence against women, and teasers on how to make kimchi and atsara.
This year, the Foundation awarded 20 new scholarships, bringing a total of 54 active scholars in 2020. The DFALF has assisted 322 scholars since 1997.
Second Vice President and Legal Committee Chair, Atty. Susan Phoebe R. Sabado, announced the result of the online elections for the Board of Trustees for 2021. The newly elected Board will begin their term in January 2021.
DFALF member and spouse of the Philippine Ambassador to Turkey, Mme. Ana Algabre Hernandez, shared an ekphrastic poetry reading and painting presentation.
The online gathering was capped by a raffle draw of cash and other prizes from generous donors led by Secretary and Mrs. Locsin, Security Bank, Ms. Doris Ho, Mr. Ernest Escaler of Gourmet Farms, Huawei, Mr. Sinan Batur of S&L Fine Foods and Mr. Willian Gatchalian.

More than 130 DFALF members from all over the world attended the first virtual General Assembly. The annual membership drive will begin in January 2021.
