Philippine Ambassador to Myanmar Turns Over Donation of Tablets for Department of Foreign Affairs Ladies Foundation Scholars

PASAY CITY 29 June 2021— Philippine Ambassador to Myanmar Eduardo E. Kapunan Jr. turned over five brand-new tablets to Madame Maria Lourdes B. Locsin, Chairperson of the Department of Foreign Affairs Ladies Foundation (DFALF) last 15 June 2021.
The donation was in line with DFALF’s Ayuda Mula sa Konsulado at Embahada: Misyon Para sa Edukasyon, a project launched in 2020. The project engaged Embassies and Consulates to help scholars of the foundation cope with the shift from face-to-face learning to online classes by providing them with financial and technological support such as tablets and other educational assistance devices.
DFALF currently sponsors 39 students in various universities and primary and secondary schools nationwide. To date, the foundation has received donations in the form of cash pledges and in-kind assistance from 26 Foreign Service Posts, namely those in Abu Dhabi, Agana, Amman, Ankara, Baghdad, Berne, Brussels, Budapest, Dubai, Geneva, Guangzhou, Istanbul, Jakarta, Manado, Milan, Nairobi, New Delhi, New York, Ottawa, Phnom Penh, Prague, Rabat, Tokyo, Toronto, Vientiane, and Wellington.
The turn-over ceremony was also graced by Mrs. Elsa Kapunan, DFALF President Maria Yvette L. Banzon-Abalos, Second Vice-President and Membership Committee Head Maria Cecilia P. Wenceslao, Treasurer and Ways and Means Committee Head Jacqueline L. Ong, and Assistant Auditor and Scholarship Committee Head Cherill R. Tubojan-Uzaraga.
Ambassador Kapunan has been the Philippine Ambassador to Myanmar since 2017. He held various positions in government and the military prior to joining the Department of Foreign Affairs. He has also extended active support towards the education of students in his personal capacity. END
