Ankara

18 December 2014 - The Department of Foreign Affairs Ladies Foundation (DFALF) Ankara Chapter participated in the Annual Charity Bazaar of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spouses Solidarity Association of Turkey, known locally as Dişişleri Mensuplari Eşleri Dayanişma Derneği or DMEDD on December 13 at CerModern Ankara.

It is the Philippine Embassy’s third time to participate and the first for the DFALF Ankara Chapter to participate as representative of the Philippines in said event.

The DMEDD Bazaar was opened by DMEDD President Dr. Canan Koru with Madame Hülya Çavuşoğlu, wife of Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlϋt Çavuşoğlu and Madame Eda Kılıç, wife of Turkish Minister of Youth and Sports Akif Çağatay Kılıç.

The Philippine booth showcased products such as pearl jewelries, accessories and decorations. Philippine made textiles were also displayed for promotion. Different types of do-it-yourself (DIY) accessories and house decorations made of recycled materials created by DFALF members were also sold.  “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” posters were prominently displayed and tourism brochures were distributed.  Philippine products were bestsellers at the event.

In a separate area, DFALF members offered free samples of Philippine dried fruits (dried mangoes, pineapples and papaya). In a short time, packages of dried mangoes and mangorind (mango and tamarind) were all sold, with many asking where these can be bought locally.

Proceeds of the event were donated to DMEDD to fund its various charity programs in Turkey.  END
