12 May 2015 - The Department of Foreign Affairs Ladies Foundation (DFALF) - Abuja Chapter, in collaboration with the Pusong Pinoy Association (PPA), conducted a feeding program for the Bema Homes Orphanage in Abuja, Nigeria on April 19 as an outcome of the joint fund-raising bazaar entitled “The 2015 Grand International Bazaar” held on March 08 at the Abuja Horse and Country Club - Shooting Range, Kado, Abuja.
The activity, which also included cash and other donations, was met with appreciation and gratitude by Mrs. Benedicta C. Jereke, Chair of the Board of Directors of the children center.
Mrs. Jereke, also known as Sister Benedicta, together with Mr. Benedict Jereke, Director of the center, thanked the benefactors for their untiring and continuous support to the causes of the center.
Led by a teacher of Bema Homes, the children also performed a choreographed song and dance number to the delight of the audience.
The visit coincided with birthday celebration of Mrs. Angelita Agbakoko, President of the DFALF Abuja Chapter and two members of the PPA.
Bema Homes has been a recipient of the Embassy’s outreach programs and has been invited to bazaars organized at the Embassy by DFALF Abuja Chapter and the PPA, to sell the products and handicrafts made by the children, in support of the skills development thrust of the Bema Homes.
Bema Homes was founded in September 2001 by Mrs. Benedicta C. Jereke. The center is committed to the total care of the education of the young people particularly orphans and the less privileged children. END
